Long Essay on Waiting For A Bus 500 Words for Kids and Students in English

In every big city, there is a local arrangement for bus services. It offers cheap transport besides economy in time and energy. It connects various parts of the city. It is very sad to note that the bus service in Delhi is gaining notoriety as it has proved to be an utter failure while coping with the demands of the citizens of Delhi.

The city of Delhi is expanding rapidly. From distant places, people come to Delhi to attend offices. They often have to change more than two buses. In the absence of an efficient bus service, many people take more than two hours to reach their offices. A man does not feel fatigued during the entire day, working in the office but he certainly feels tired when he has to wait for the bus for more than an hour or even more.

Last Sunday, I was waiting at Bangla Sahib Stop for bus no. 680 to go to Malviya Nagar. There was a long queue. I adjusted myself in the queue. In order to kill time, some of the passengers were busy chatting with co-passengers. Young boys and girls were cracking jokes with one another. Some gentlemen were busy going through the newspapers or novels.

Waiting For A Bus Essay

On account of the long waiting time, the eyes of the passengers were fixed in the direction from where the bus came but the conductor whistled and the bus did not stop. Two more buses came but not more than six passengers could get in. All the passengers were cursing the DTC.

It was very hot. The passengers were perspiring and small children were crying. Soon, a private bus came. We thanked God and got into the bus. Unluckily, when the bus reached Safdarjang Aerodrome, its engine failed. All the passengers were asked to get down and wait for another bus. Again, I stood waiting for the bus. Soon, an auto came. I got into it as I had become impatient.

Waiting for a bus is really a grave problem in Delhi and it is quite agonising for all the passengers. No doubt, the authorities are taking steps to lessen the woes of the commuters but so far no tangible results have come by in spite of the launch of the latest low floor and high-capacity buses.

Waiting for a bus means wasting a lot of time and energy which, otherwise, could be put to better use. So, the people responsible for intra-state transport must improve its efficiency and frequency. The bus service has already been privatised but the DTC remains operational as a government organ in the city of Delhi and in NCR (National Capital Region).

But Delhi government is trying to revamp the DTC and cancel all private permits. Anyways, public sector, private sector or both, all we want is a good, reliable and cheap public transport service.
