Physics is the study of basic principles that govern the Physical World around us. It is the study of energy and matter. More precisely how matter and energy interact with each other and how they affect each other. Physics will always be exciting and things keep changing with every new discovery. With new theories and discoveries, not just the answer but also the question changes. This is why many individuals define it by what it was instead of what it will be.

Physics helps us to organize the universe and it gives you the powerful tools to express your creativity and see the world in new ways. It gives you the quantitative and analytic skills needed for analyzing data and solving problems in the sciences, medicine, engineering, finance, management, as well as in economics, law, and public policy.

Emergence of Physics

Early greeks established the first quantitative physical laws such as the Archimedes’ descriptions of the principle of levers and the buoyancy of bodies in the water. Physics as a Science stagnated for years and no one conducted experiments. By 17th Century, Galileo Galilei and Issac Newton explored the use of Mathematics as a fundamental tool and brought further advancements such as the Law of Gravity and Law of Motion.

During the 1800s Laws of Magnetics, Electromechanical waves were developed by Faraday and Maxwell. Moder Physics began in the 20th century with the discovery of X-Rays, Quantum Hypothesis, and Atomic Theory.
